Alabama A&M Grabs Another Doubleheader Sweep

MONTGOMERY, Ala. |  Alabama A&M softball secured another pair of victories on Saturday evening in Montgomery, earning a 7-2 win over Bluefield State before powering past Lincoln (Pa.), 16-9, in an offensive showcase to improve to 10-4 overall on the season.
 

In the opener, the Bulldogs used aggressive base running and timely execution to take control early in a 7-2 victory over Bluefield State.
 

Tori Green ignited the offense with a single and multiple stolen bases before scoring the game-tying run. The Bulldogs added three runs in the second inning building on the pressure on the bases and a sacrifice fly from Kali Austerman to stretch the lead to 5-1.
 

AAMU tacked on two more powerful runs in the sixth as Ariana Montiel delivered a sacrifice fly and Austerman followed with an RBI single to make it 7-2.
 

Green finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four stolen bases, while Austerman drove in two runs. Montiel added two RBI and a stolen base as the Bulldogs swiped multiple bags to keep Bluefield off balance.
 

On the mound, Kaylee Tatum tossed a complete game, allowing just four hits and two runs while striking out six to earn the win.
 

In game two, Alabama A&M's offense erupted for 16 runs on 11 hits in a high-scoring battle against Lincoln (Pa.).
 

The Bulldogs gained an early 8-0 lead through two innings, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Akyndra Montalvo and a five-run second inning fueled by aggressive base running.
 

Lincoln responded with five runs in the third to cut into the deficit, but AAMU answered immediately. After adding a run in the fourth, the Bulldogs broke the game open in the sixth inning when Jaliyah Grigsby blasted a three-run home run to extend the lead. A double from Bailey Webb and an RBI single by Montiel added to the dominant stretch.

Grigsby finished with five RBI, including the pivotal three-run homer, while Montalvo went 2-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored.The Bulldogs continued to keep things active on the basepaths throughout the contest to maintain momentum. Dylann Rambally earned the win in relief, and Kara Burman closed the door over the final three innings to secure the victory.

Alabama A&M will conclude the weekend against Grambling State on Sunday starting at 12:30 p.m. in Montgomery, Al.
