Bulldogs Fall at No. 26 Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. | The Alabama A&M women's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 26 Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon in Starkville, dropping to 0-6 overall on the season. 
 

Mississippi State secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The Bulldogs earned a strong showing at No. 3 doubles as Tstitsi Mahere and Melissa Mwakha delivered a 6-0 victory, but Mississippi State claimed the early advantage. 
 

In singles play, Mississippi State clinched the match with straight-set wins at the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 spots. Mwakha competed at No. 4 singles, while Nardine Salem No. 5 and Lavynia Vieira de Sa No. 6 each battled in two-set contests. 
 

Play at the top three singles positions remained unfinished at the time of the match decision. Alicia Owegi No. 1, Gabrielle Henderson No. 2, and Sofia Sotelo Raya No. 3 each competed in tightly contested matches before play was halted. 
 

UP NEXT
Alabama A&M (0-6) will be back on the road to face UAB. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Hoover Met Tennis Center.
