BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Brianna Samuels set a new personal record in the 600 meters and won the event to highlight the Alabama A&M University men's and women's indoor track & field teams' performance on Saturday at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Samuels won the event, logging a personal-best time of 1:33.15, while teammate
Minka Isom placed sixth, logging a time of 1:38.42.
In the 800m,
Sanyae Gibson posted a personal-best time of 2L18.08 and just missed the top spot in claiming second,
Chelsea Whitehurst just missed qualifying for the finals in the 60m hurdles, finishing ninth with a time of 8.92.
Laila Gaynor claimed a third-place finish in the 200m, recording a time of 24.31. Gaynor was also part of the 4x400m relay team, along with
Kennedy Hill, Samuels and
Minka Isom, that finished fourth, logging a time of 3:50.86.
On the men's side,
Juan Osorio recorded an eighth-place finish in the 1 mile, posting a personal-best time of 4:24.55, which was one minute off the school record held by
Bravin Kibitok. The 4x400m relay team of
Talil Atkins, JoeQuez Keith,
Xavier Turner and
Sherman Lattimore placed fifth, posting a team of 3:18.87.
Andre Jones placed eighth in the eighth in the long jump, registering a leap of 6.57m, while on the women's side, Mariah Loften finished second, posting a jump of 5.54m.
