THE HILL | The Alabama A&M softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Detroit Mercy on Tuesday afternoon at Bulldog Field, falling 12-5 in game one before an 8-3 loss in game two.
Game One
Detroit Mercy jumped out early with three runs in the opening inning before Alabama A&M quickly answered. The Bulldogs rallied in the bottom half of the first as Akyndra Montalvo delivered a two-RBI single and Rayven Ramos added an RBI single to even the game at 3-3.Â
The Titans regained control in the third inning with a solo home run and later used a three-run fourth inning to extend the lead to 7-3. Alabama A&M responded in the bottom of the fourth when Kali Austerman drove in a run with a single and another run scored on a Detroit Mercy error to cut the deficit to 7-5.Â
Detroit Mercy pulled away late, adding runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to secure the 12-5 victory. Alabama A&M recorded six hits in the contest.Â
Montalvo led the Bulldogs offensively with three RBI, while Austerman finished with two hits and an RBI.Â
Game Two
Alabama A&M struck first in the second game with a three-run first inning. Hannah Wyroski drove in a run with a walk, Grace Cruthis added an RBI single, and Destiny King drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.Â
Detroit Mercy responded with three runs in the second inning to tie the game and added another run in the third to move ahead 4-3.Â
Detroit Mercy added two more runs to seal the 8-3 win, finishing with 10 hits in the contest. Alabama A&M collected five hits, with Cruthis leading the Bulldogs with two hits and an RBI.

UP NEXTÂ
The Bulldogs will remain home to host another doubleheader against Detroit Mercy at the Bulldog Softball Field on Wednesday, March 11th. First pitch is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
