Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University baseball team took a two-run lead into the bottom of the ninth inning but could not hold on as UAB squeaked out a 9-8 victory on Tuesday afternoon from Young Memorial Field.
Alabama A&M (7-15) broke a 6-6 tie in the top of the ninth when
Tarris Murray brought home two runs, setting up the Bulldogs for an opportunity for its fourth-ever win in the series.
However, UAB (13-8) loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning and was able to push across three runs to earn the victory.
UAB jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Alabama A&M answered in the top of the second with a pair of runs.
Tervell Johnson opened the frame with a walk and moved to second when
Keondre Fields singled to left. With two outs,
Keilon Parnell, who was 2-for-3 at the plate, tripled down the line in right as Johnson and Fields scored to close the gap to 3-2.
The Bulldogs grabbed a 4-2 advantage after scoring a pair of runs in the fourth inning.
Fields began the inning by being hit by a pitch and advanced to third when
KJ Stanfield doubled to right.
Chris Walker followed with a single through the left side to plate Fields and Stanfield scored when
Miles Jackson reached on a one-out error.
The Blazers answered with one run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to grab a 6-4 advantage.
Alabama A&M rallied in the top of the eighth.
Tarris Murray, who went 2-for-5, opened the frame with a triple down the line in right and scored on a
Zamar Lewis double to center. Lewis moved to third on a Fields ground out and scored when
Brycen Hammonds stole second, tying the game at 6.
William Tarpley started on the bump and went 3.2 innings. He gave up four runs on six hits, fanned four and walked two.

Chase Ingram gave up two runs on two hits, with three strikeouts and one walk in 2.0 innings for the Blazers. Hunter Hyatt, Justin Hicks, Riley Miller, Braxton Shelton and Carter Samuelson (3-2) worked out of the bullpen.
