ITTA BENA, MISS. | Alabama A&M softball put together a dominant offensive day, sweeping Mississippi Valley State in a Saturday doubleheader with 20-12 and 14-5 victories to cap an impressive showing on the road.
Game One
The Bulldogs overcame an early deficit and erupted offensively, scoring 20 runs on 19 hits in a high-scoring affair. After trailing 6-2 in the opening inning, Alabama A&M responded with consistent scoring, including a nine-run fifth inning that broke the game open.Â
Jaliyah Grigsby led the charge with a 3-for-5 performance and five RBIs, while Kali Austerman added three hits, four runs scored, and three RBIs. Tori Green also contributed three hits and three RBIs, and Grace Cruthis added four RBIs in the win.Â
On the mound, Kaylee Tatum earned the win in relief, stabilizing the game after a tough first inning. Dylann Rambally closed things out to secure the victory.
Game Two
Alabama A&M carried its offensive momentum into game two, scoring 14 runs on 18 hits to complete the sweep. The Bulldogs jumped out early with three runs in the first inning and pulled away with a five-run fourth and five-run sixth inning.Â
Kali Austerman continued her standout day, finishing with three hits and three RBIs, while Hannah Wyroski added three hits and two RBIs. Grace Cruthis contributed three hits, and Josefina Lacalle drove in two runs while also earning the win in the circle.Â
Lacalle tossed four innings before handing things over to Rambally, who shut down Mississippi Valley State over the final two innings to secure the run-rule victory.Â
UP NEXTÂ
The Bulldogs will be back on the Hill to host Rust College in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 25th. First pitch is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.Â
