THE HILL | The Alabama A&M softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader against Alabama State on Saturday at Bulldog Field, dropping game one, 5-3, and game two, 11-3.
Alabama A&M showed flashes offensively across both contests but was unable to overcome Alabama State's early scoring surges.Â
In game one, the Bulldogs kept things competitive throughout. After falling behind early, Alabama A&M responded in the first inning as Kali Austerman tripled and Jaliyah Grigsby drove her in with an RBI double. The Bulldogs added two more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Paula Ocrospoma-Figueroa to cut the deficit to one.Â
Despite the late push, Alabama State answered with an insurance run in the sixth inning to secure the 5-3 victory.
In game two, Alabama State jumped out to a commanding lead with a six-run first inning. The Hornets added to their advantage with runs in the second and third innings to take control early.Â
Alabama A&M got on the board in the opening frame as Tori Green delivered an RBI double, and later added runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Austerman recorded another strong performance at the plate with a triple, while Ocrospoma and Green each contributed RBIs.Â

The Bulldogs will be on the road to face Florida A&M in Tallahassee, Fl. On Friday, April 3rd. First pitch is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.Â
