TALLAHASSEE, FL. | Florida A&M used a big first inning to take control early, resulting in a 6-0 loss for the Bulldogs on Wednesday evening at the FAMU Softball Complex.
The Bulldogs were held hit less on the night, as Florida A&M pitcher tossed a complete-game no-hitter with eight strikeouts.Â
Florida A&M struck quickly in the opening frame, capitalizing on defensive miscues to plate five runs. Despite the early deficit, Alabama A&M settled in defensively behind pitcher Josefina Lacalle, who went the distance on the mound. Lacalle allowed just one earned run across six innings while recording three strikeouts.Â
The Bulldogs had limited opportunities offensively, drawing just one walk and putting only two runners in scoring position throughout the contest. Kali Austerman and Rayven Ramos each recorded stolen bases, accounting for AAMU's only offensive pressure of the night.Â
Florida A&M added an insurance run in the fifth inning on a solo home run, extending the lead to 6-0 and securing the victory.Â
