THE HILL | Alabama A&M softball rallied late in dramatic fashion to secure an 11-10 walk-off victory over Mississippi Valley State on Friday afternoon at Bulldog Field.
The Bulldogs erased multiple deficits and plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win, improving to 17-24 overall.Â
Mississippi Valley State came out swinging, scoring six runs in the second inning to take early control. Alabama A&M quickly answered, highlighted by a four-run second inning capped by a Kali Austerman grand slam that cut the deficit to one.Â
The back-and-forth battle continued throughout, with the Bulldogs tying the game in the fifth inning after key RBI hits from Hannah Wyroski and Grace Cruthis, followed by a sacrifice fly from Austerman to take an 8-7 lead.Â
Mississippi Valley regained momentum in the sixth and added another run in the seventh to go up 10-8, setting up a tense final frame.
In the bottom of the seventh, Alabama A&M delivered when it mattered most. After loading the bases, Josefina Lacalle drove in a run after being hit by a pitch, cutting the deficit to one. Moments later, Lily Calderon came through with a clutch two-RBI single to left field, scoring the tying and game-winning runs to complete the comeback.Â
Offensively, the Bulldogs totaled 19 hits, led by Cruthis (3-for-4, three runs), Austerman (3-for-4, five RBIs), and Calderon (3-for-5, two RBIs).Â
In the circle, Dylann Rambally earned the win after tossing five innings in relief, allowing three runs while helping stabilize the game.

The Bulldogs will face Mississippi Valley again in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11th. First pitch is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
