DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.| Miles Jackson went 2-for-3 and scored one run as the Alabama A&M University baseball team began a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series on Friday with a 15-4 loss in seven innings to Bethune-Cookman at Sliwa Stadium.

Alabama A&M (8-32 overall, 2-14 SWAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Jackson was hit by a pitch and
Brycen Hammonds followed with a two-run homer.

However, Bethune-Cookman (27-11, 13-3) responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 2 and scored four runs in the second and two more in the third for an 8-2 advantage.

The Bulldogs closed the gap to 8-4 with one run in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Wildcats answered in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three runs to stretch the lead to 11-4.

Bethune-Cookman sealed the victory in the seventh by scoring four times to earn the 15-4 win.

Anthony Mateo (2-4) took the loss, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits, with four strikeouts and a pair of walks in 4.1 innings.

Virgil Heath Jr. worked out of the bullpen.

Edwin Sanchez (8-1) picked up the win on the mound for the Wildcats. He surrendered four runs (three earned) on five hits, fanned six and walked two in 6.0 innings. Bryon Rinchones pitched one inning in relief.
