DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.| The Alabama A&M University baseball team concluded its weekend Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series at Bethune-Cookman on Sunday with a 13-3 loss in seven innings at Sliwa Stadium.

Bethune-Cookman (29-11 overall, 15-3 SWAC) took advantage of an AAMU error in the bottom of the first inning as the Wildcats jumped out to an early 3-0 lead.

Alabama A&M (8-24, 2-16) responded in the second inning with one run.
Â
With one down in the frame,
Keondre Fields double to left center and came across to score on a
Tervell Johnson base hit to left as the Bulldogs closed the gap to 3-1.

The Wildcats answered in the bottom half of the inning with three runs, and plated another run in the fifth to extend the advantage to 7-1.

The Bulldogs tried to rally in the top of the seventh.

Zak Rice opened the frame with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Johnson followed with a walk and moved to third on an
Isaac Castro double to left center, which scored Rice. Johnson came across on a sacrifice fly by
AJ Anderson to cut the deficit to 7-3.

However, Bethune-Cookman plated six runs in the bottom of the inning to pick up the 13-3 victory.

William Tarpley (0-3) took the loss as he surrendered seven runs (three earned) on eight hits, with five walks and two strikeouts in six innings.
Terence Sales worked the seventh in relief.

Michael Benedict got the start for the Wildcats, going three innings and giving up one run on two hits, with one strikeout. Ethan Diaz, Pablo Torres, Andris Barroso, Justin Morales and Julian
Carrasquilla worked out of the bullpen.
