THE HILL | AJ Anderson went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs as the Alabama A&M University baseball team used a four-run third inning and didn't look back as the Bulldogs picked up an 11-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory over Jackson State on Saturday at the Bulldog Baseball Field.

Jackson State (18-23 overall, 8-12 SWAC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the second inning, but Alabama A&M answered in the bottom half as Anderson scored on a infield hit by
KJ Stanfield, tying the game at 1.

The Tigers scored three runs on four hits to grab a 4-1 advantage in the third.

The Bulldogs (9-36, 3-17) responded with four runs in the bottom half of the frame to take a 5-4 advantage.

Devante Wells opened the inning with a walk and moved to second when
Miles Jackson reached on an infield hit. With one down,
Tarris Murray drew a walk to load the bases. Anderson provided the major blow in the frame with a grand slam to give AAMU the lead for good.

Alabama A&M plated one run in the fifth and two more in the seventh for an 8-4 lead.

Jackson State pulled within 8-6 with a pair of runs in the eighth, but again the Bulldogs answered in the bottom half.

Anderson began the inning with a walk and scored on a two-run homer by
Keondre Fields. Stanfield walked and came around to score on a Jackson sacrifice fly to left, giving the Bulldogs a commanding 11-6 advantage.

Anderson finished the day with two hits, three runs scored and four RBIs, while Jackson went 2-for-4, with a pair of runs scored.

Anthony Mateo (3-4) earned the victory as he gave up six runs (five earned) on eight hits, with four strikeouts and one walk in seven innings.
Edyn Barber and
William Tarpley pitched an inning each in relief.

Jayden Lopez (4-3) took the loss in 6.1 innings. He surrendered eight runs on seven hits, with four strikeouts and two walks. Jaedeyn Edwards, Joe Williams and Christian Delgado worked out the bullpen.

Alabama A&M concludes its three-game SWAC series against Jackson State on Sunday. First pitch against the Tigers is scheduled for 1 p.m. from the Bulldog Baseball Field.
