CHICAGO, Ill. | Alabama A&M volleyball concluded play at the Loyola Classic with a 3-0 loss to host Loyola Chicago on Saturday afternoon inside Joseph J. Gentile Arena.
Alabama A&M produced its strongest offensive performance in the opening set, recording 13 kills and hitting .312. The Bulldogs used a late run to take a 20-17 advantage, but Loyola responded to pull even at 21. After Gerren Tomlin tied the frame again at 22 with a kill, the Ramblers scored the final three points to claim the set.
The Bulldogs opened the second frame with a 5-3 lead before Loyola found its rhythm. The Ramblers committed just one attacking error and hit .593 in the set to earn a 25-14 victory.
The third set featured 10 ties and two lead changes as Alabama A&M continued to battle. The Bulldogs posted 11 kills and hit .200, but Loyola closed the match with a 25-20 win.
Tomlin and Rayishon Jackman led Alabama A&M with nine kills apiece. Tomlin hit .350 and added two service aces, three digs and a block assist, while Jackman finished with a .286 hitting percentage, five digs and a block assist.
McKenzie Charles contributed eight kills, while Carys Sanabria recorded three kills on six attacks for a .500 hitting percentage. Sanabria also led the Bulldogs at the net with four block assists.
Briana Smith distributed a team-high 16 assists and added four digs. Kaydee Smith followed with 12 assists.
Alabama A&M finished the match with 34 kills, 33 assists, 24 digs, five total blocks and two service aces.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, Sept. 18, against Jacksonville at the FIU Invite in Miami. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
