The women's soccer team ended its 2009 campaign with a 7-3 loss to Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the SWAC Tournament in Itta Bena, Miss. The Bulldogs finish the season 2-16 overall.
A&M got on the board first when Celeste Roberts took a pass down the middle of the field and scored. The Lady Lions returned the favor shortly after as Jade West found Noah Mithrush on the left side of the field for the tying goal. The Bulldogs regained the lead when Kanesha Gulley found Brittany Joseph on the right side of the field for the goal.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff tied the game early in the second half as Erika Forbes scored on a penalty kick. UAPB then added goals by Nicole Parks-Powell and Jade West to take the lead.
The Bulldog’s Brittany Joseph connected on a shot from 35 yards out to inch AAMU closer. However, two final goals by UAPB’s Taryn Wright and Rachel Harker would put the game away for the Lady Lions.
Arkansas- Pine Bluff advances to take on the winner of the Jackson State/Southern game.
