Re'Quincia Mack was 2-4 that included an RBI triple, but Chastoni Jones, Aruba Nicholas and Kasha Tuariac each had two hits as Southern downed Alabama A&M, 5-3 Friday at the conclusion of the first day of competition at the SWAC Softball Roundup.

Trailing 1-0, the Jaguars scored all their runs in the middle three innings. Brita Hymes’ two-run triple in the fourth put Southern out front.

After Mack's three-baser in the top of the fifth tied the game for the Bulldogs, Southern took the lead for good on a pair of RBI singles by Jones and Victoria Stewart.
