Prairie View vs. AAMU
NORMAL – The Alabama A&M women’s soccer team swept Texas Southern 2-1 and Prairie View A&M 2-0 to earn their first two victories of the year.
A&M’s Joyce Avila and Edna Mensah each scored their first goal of the season in the second half versus Texas Southern. Mensah scored on a penalty kick that was a fingernail’s width away from the Lady Tiger’s goalie reach. That proved to be the winning goal.
The Maroon & White then took their first win’s momentum into the contest versus Prairie View. Goalie Linda Aboagye recorded nine saves and posted her first shutout. Junior Brittany Joseph scored her first goal while Carre Rodriguez ended the game with 10 yard goal in the 75th minute to secure A&M’s second win.
The Lady Bulldogs will travel south on Friday, October 8, to face conference rival Alabama State. The event begins at 7 pm.
