The Lady Bulldogs got the second half of the tennis spring season underway with a weekend sweep of UAH and
Cumberland University.
“We needed to get some confidence and some match play,” commented coach Thomas Colvin. “This second half of the season, we need to have all the kinks worked out for a strong finish.”
The ladies match
on Friday against the Chargers of UAH saw the ladies of A&M drop only 3 point en route to a 6-3 win at UAH.
Playing with the 9-point DII scoring, the Lady Bulldogs got wins at #1 and #2 doubles before cashing in at #’s 1, 3, 4, and 5 singles for the 6 points.
On Saturday, again at UAH, the Lady Bulldogs surrendered only 1 point to Cumberland University in a 5-1 win.
“Both days started beautifully, but ended in some very cold conditions,” Colvin said. “
Friday night’s match went long and finished into the night. We agreed to forego doubles on Saturday to keep from revisiting that scenario.”
Starting with singles, the Ladies of A&M got wins at #’s 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
The Lady Bulldogs will next host Western Kentucky on March 10.
