Game 3 - A&M Softball dropped its series against Alabama State 3-2, 3-2, and 7-0. The Bulldogs went nine innings in the first game and 10 frames in the second match. The loss drops A&M to 8-22 on the season. The Bulldogs will wrap its 2010 season next weekend against Mississippi Valley beginning April 23. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
ASU 3, A&M 2 (nine innings)
The Bulldogs scored the first run in the bottom of the second frame when Nicole Norton's single drove in Dymond Rangel. A&M scored again in the fourth behind a Jasmin Riley homerun to take a 2-0 advantage heading into the third inning. The Hornets scored unanswered runs into the sixth and seventh innings to force an extra frame. ASU recorded the winning run in the ninth inning.
Rangel went 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead the A&M offense. Janice Aleman and Krissy Miles split time at the mound. Miles received the loss, giving up two runs in 3.2 innings of work.
ASU 3, A&M 2 (10 innings)
Both teams were scoreless after nine innings. ASU recorded three hits and three runs in the 10th to take a 3-0 advantage heading into the bottom frame. The Bulldogs countered with three hits, but fell short with only two runs.
Hali Buie pitched a complete game, fanning six batters and giving up six hits. Sabrina Hurns recorded two hits.
ASU 7, A&M 0
A&M could not get things going on the offensive end, as the Bulldogs were held scoreless. The team recorded five hits. Melanie Mechaca went 2-for-3 at the plate. Buie and Miles and Riley also recorded a hit each. Menchaca took the loss at the mound.
