BIRMINGHAM - The Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs softball team dropped two games on Sunday afternoon to Berry College 11-8 and Millsaps College, 10-7 in Birmingham, Alabama.

In the first game versus Berry College the Lady Bulldogs’ (0-9) Raven Grubbs scored on an error by the third baseman giving A&M its first lead of the season. Berry would then use a five-run first inning to jump out to a 5-1 lead. A&M then pulled within a run with two scores in the third on a Raven Grubbs’ single.  She then advanced to third on a fielder’s choice from Nicole Norton. Grubbs scored on an error by the Lady Viking’s third baseman to pull the Lady Bulldogs within two runs of BC.  Second baseman Corissa Deadwyler reached first base on a fielder’s choice while Norton scored and pulled the Maroon & White within one 5-4 in the fourth inning.

Berry College tacked on six more runs, two in the fourth and four in the fifth innings. Not to be outdone the Lady Bulldogs put four runs on the scoreboard in the seventh-inning but it wasn’t enough as BC went on to an 11-8 victory.

In the second game of the day, the Lady Bulldogs’ Jasmine Riley connected on her first homer of the season in the top of the first inning. Millsaps then tied the game in the bottom of the second.  A&M regained the lead in the third inning when Fayesha Ward hit her first home run and scored LaQueesha Poe.

Miles scored eight unanswered runs in the top of the fifth inning and one in the sixth. The Lady Bulldogs came up short by scoring two runs in the fifth and two in the seventh.  Nicole Norton pitched five innings facing 29 batters while striking out four.
