Rams softball sweeps A&M

Game One

Game Two

ALBANY -- The Albany State Rams swept the Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs by the scores of 11-1 and 9-8 in a non-conference doubleheader action on Tuesday afternoon.

In game one, the Lady Bulldogs offense never found a rhythm as Lady Rams pitcher surrendered only four hits in an 11-1 win.  ASU seized control when two first inning errors led to a 5-0 lead.  The Maroon and White defense held Albany scoreless until the Rams scored four runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth.

In the doubleheader's finale, the Lady Bulldogs rallied before falling to the Rams 9-8.  An RBI single by Jasmine Riley to score Raven Grubbs gave A&M new life with a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth inning.  The Maroon and White scored one run in the seventh, ninth and tenth inning.  The Rams then tacked on a run in their final two at bats to earn the win.

The Nedra Brown led squad dropped their second 10th inning game of the season with the loss and their 21st of the year. This marks the ninth straight year the Maroon & White softball team has recorded at least 21 or more losses.

The Lady Bulldogs softball team will host Jackson State University to a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 15 at the Lady Bulldog softball field.

The Bulldogs (3-21) will close out the home part of the regular season with the weekend series versus JSU on Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
