About the Championship
The 2012 Southwestern Athletic Conference Soccer Championship will take place November 1-4 in Alexandria, La. at Johnny Downs Soccer Compex. This is the second year the Alexadria-Pineville Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority and the City of Alexandria have hosted the championship.
The top eight teams, based on Conference results determined by a point system, qualify for the SWAC Soccer Championship. A team receives two points for each Conference win and one point for a tie. The winner of the championship will earn the SWAC automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Last year, University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff claimed its second title in three years. Only four other schools have won the championhsip title (Alabama A&M, Grambling State, Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State).
