A&M Goes 1-2 in the Tiny Lassiter HBCU Softball

CONYERS, GA - The Alabama A&M University softball team fell to the Rattlers of Florida A&M 10-2 in five innings.

FAMU scored two runs in the bottom of the second as Kiefi Myrick scored, followed by an AAMU wild pitch scoring Alyssa Weaver, giving the Lady Rattlers a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Rattlers added three more runs in the bottom of the third to increase their lead 5-0.

AAMU scored their only runs in the top of the fourth as Anisa Britt scored on an FAMU error, followed by a Meijah McCollum single scoring Shaquille Morris, cutting FAMU's lead 5-2.

FAMU added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth as Jasmin Donaldson tripled to center-field to lead off the inning and then score. Florida A&M offense continued their assault with four runs in the bottom of the fifth ending the game due to the eight-run mercy rule, giving FAMU the 10-2 win.
 
Anisa Britt received the loss for the Lady Bulldogs as she gave up eight hits, seven earned runs and striking out four in four innings on the mound.
The Rattlers tallied 10 hits, while AAMU finished with just four.
 
A&M's second game was canceled due to bad weather.
 
North Carolina A&T was next on the schedule but faced a tough left-hander in Anisa Britt of Alabama A&M.

Britt struck out four batters in over five innings of work.
 
The Aggies did load the bases in the sixth. A&T's Raven Smith scored on a wildpitch, Britt then got Dominique Smith to ground-out to end the threat, as the Lady Bulldogs won 5-2.
 
The Lady Bulldogs combined for five runs, seven hits and an error. They totaled just four RBIs and struck out six times, while walking just twice on the day.
 
Fayeshia Ward and Shenika Johnson lead the Lady Bulldogs with two hits.
Ward finished with two RBI’s while teammate Nikkea Rembert drove in two runs.
 
In the second game AAMU fell to South Carolina State 5-3.

On Wednesday, March 8th the Maroon and White will face cross-town rival the University of Alabama-Huntsville in a 5 p.m., doubleheader match at Lady Charger field
