A&M defeats Miles College 4-2

NORMAL - The Lady Bulldogs came back from a 1-0 deficit to edge Miles College 4-2 in Normal, AL, on Wednesday afternoon.

The win gave A&M an 8-18 overall record, while the Lady Bears fall to 17-25 overall.

The Lady Bears scored in the top of the first when Tiffany Roberts, who singled and reached third on an error, scored on a sacrifice groundout.

In the bottom of the second inning Alabama A&M’s Nicole Norton scored on a double by Cassandra Brown that tied the game at 1 apiece.

The Maroon and White’s Nikkia Rambert advanced to first as she was hit by a pitch. Rambert then scored on a Samantha Cain’s triple for a 3-1 Lady Bulldogs lead. Cain then scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, as she was brought in by Brown.

As the starting pitcher Brown, gave up only one hit over six innings and struck out four.

MC’s Kayla Bowmaster absorbed the hard luck loss, scattering six hits and striking out one batter.

A&M will return to SWAC to action for a weekend three-game series at Alcorn State.

First pitch of Friday’s game is set for 6 p.m. Saturday's double-header begins at 12 p.m.
