AAMU To Host Austin Peay in Softball Action

NORMAL – The Alabama A&M softball team will welcome Austin Peay University to “The Hill” for a mid-week contest on Wednesday, April 17.

The two teams have played 14 games against each other, with the Lady Govs holding a commanding 13-1 advantage in the series, but the two schools haven't faced each other since Feb. 25, 2010.

A&M has a 11-18 record overall this season, sitting at 6-7 in the SWAC. The Lady Bulldogs were victorious in all three games during this past weekend's series, edging Alcorn State 1-0, 5-4 and 7-5 earning their first bid to the post season tournament under head coach Nedra Brown.

Anisa Britt has been the A&M pitching staff workhorse with 113 innings pitched that has translated into an 8-7 overall record, with a 4.38 ERA and 87 strikeouts.

Austin Peay is led offensively by sophomore Lauren deCastro, who is hitting at a .380 clip for the season

The game is set for a 2:00 p.m. first pitch. Admission is free and open to the public.
