MVSU Takes Two From A&M

NORMAL - The Alabama A&M softball team dropped its doubleheader against Mississippi Valley on “The Hill” Friday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs were unable to get things going offensively or defensively, falling 10-1 in the first game, and the second game, A&M was defeated 14-0.  

The Devilettes hopped on the board early as they scored four runs in the top of the first inning followed by one run in the sixth and five runs in the seventh inning.

A&M picked it up at the bat the first game, recording four hits. Shaquille Morris went 1-for-2 at bat with a run batted in. Jasmine Riley had two hits. Fayesha Ward scored a run for the Bulldogs along with a hit.

In game two, the Devilettes used a three run first inning to take a quick 3-0 advantage. MVSU scored a combined of 11 runs in the top of the second, fourth and fifth innings. The Bulldogs were held hitless until the bottom of the fifth when Samantha Cain got on base with a single.

With the loss, the Lady Bulldog fall 7-17 on the season and 3-6 in conference play while the Devilettes improve 19-17 overall and 6-0 in conference action.

The Maroon and White will return to action with a single game on Saturday, April 7, beginning at 12 p.m.
