Softball drops two to Austin Peay

NORMAL, Ala. - After a rain soaked weekend the Lady Bulldogs softball team finally got a chance to hit the field, but fell short twice to Austin Peay State University, 6-0 and 6-2.

In game one A&M belted five hits, as junior Jasmine Riley totaled two. Each time at bat she advanced to second, but was stranded on base. Nicole Norton, Fayesha Ward and Sitembile Lee each registered a hit for A&M.
 
Cassandra Berry pitched five innings, striking out three while facing 23 batters. Austin Peay had seven hits off of Berry as five runs came across the plate.

In Game 2, Austin Peay’s Morgan Brewer pitched the complete-game victory, giving up nine hits and two runs.
 
Nicole Norton doubled in the top of the fourth inning and was brought home on a RBI single from Anisa Britt. Britt had the hot bat with three hits on the day. The Montgomery, Alabama native accounted for a double and two singles.

In the top of the seventh, Raven Grubbs scored as she came in to pinch run for Angel Crawford, when LaQueesha Poe singled down the first base line.
 
Megan Crawford took the loss for the Maroon and White. Crawford faced 24 batters while striking out three.
 
Up next for the Lady Bulldogs, will be participating in the MEAC-SWAC Challenge, which will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, March 2-3.
