Women Tennis falls in season opener

Normal- The Alabama A&M women’s tennis team opened the 2013 season with a loss to the Tigers of Auburn University.

Auburn swept the Maroon & White 7-0, in their first match under first year head coach Willis Mbandi. Despite the loss, there were multiple individual victories. Four Lady Bulldogs won at least one game during their singles competition matches. Morgan Shaw of Dallas, Texas was the only member of the team to win multiple games in defeat. Shaw was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Auburn’s Jen Pfeifler.

During the doubles competition, the duo of Morgan Shaw/Jessica Taylor again took a small victory in defeat, taking one game from the Pleun Burgmans/Ashley Kitchen team who went on to win 8-1.

The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on February 15^that 2 p.m. when they take on Jacksonville State University in Montgomery, Ala.
