NORMAL - The Alabama A&M softball team will face off against the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University, on Friday afternoon at 6 p.m., and will round the weekend out on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.


Alabama A&M enters the week of play on the road with a 11-20 record overall and a 4-7 league mark, while MVSU comes in with a 12-23 record. Valley has a league record of 4-2 and is in second place in the Eastern Division while A&M ranks forth.

The Mississippi Valley softball team fell 8-5 on the road at Alabama on Tuesday night at Rhoads Stadium.

The Devilettes were tied with the No. 4 ranked Crimson Tide at three in the top of the fifth inning before Alabama added four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Alexandria Robertson hit a two-run homer for her 12th of the year for MVSU in the seventh inning but it wasn't enough for a Devilette comeback.

A&M comes in hitting .271 as a team, but possess three batters above .350. With a batting average of .410, 34 hits, two doubles, and 20 walks Jasmine Riley leads the team. Anisa Britt is batting .398, while Brianna Zeigler leads the speed game with 18 stolen bases and 29 runs scored, while hitting .351.

Totaling 81.2 innings, one shutout and 38 strikeouts, under her belt Megan Gray has a 6.42 ERA as the Lady Bulldogs starting pitcher. Cassandra Brown is second on the team with 69.2 innings worked, and has an 8.09 earned run average.
