Softball to Honor Six Seniors

NORMAL, Ala. – The Alabama A&M softball team will welcome Alcorn State University to “The Hill” for a weekend contest and final Southwestern Athletic Conference series.

Due to inclement weather approaching the Huntsville area, the Lady Bulldog softball contests versus the Lady Braves that was scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 19-20^th, has been reschedule for Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21^st.

Head Coach Nedra Brown and Alabama A&M will celebrate Senior Day, and will honor six student athletes on Saturday afternoon.

A&M has a 11-23 record overall this season, sitting at 4-10 in the SWAC. The Lady Bulldogs fell in all three games during this past weekend's series, against Mississippi Valley State 10-2, 8-0 and 7-0. With a sweep against ASU, the Maroon and White can still make post season play.

In their most recent contest Alcorn State softball team welcomed Grambling State to the "Reservation" to finish up one of the games that were rained out at the SWAC Round-Up in Longview, Texas last month.

The Lady Braves were ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the first before the game was canceled. Alcorn maintained their composure and sent Grambling home packing with a 2-0 win, four their only conference victory of the season.

Meagan Gray has been the A&M pitching staff workhorse with 90.1 innings pitched that has translated into a 4-11 overall record, with a 6.38 ERA and 50 strikeouts.

Alcorn State is led offensively by sophomore Alexandra Harris, who is hitting at a .341 clip for the season.

The double header start time on Saturday is 1:00 & 3:00 p.m., and will round out the weekend on Sunday afternoon with a single game to start at 1:00 p.m.
