Bulldog Bowlers competitive in first tournament

SWAC Bowling Standings

Baton Rouge, LA- The SWAC hosted the West Bowling Round-Up this weekend at the All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Teams competed throughout a three day tourney for official standings within the conference.

Teams who competed in the round-up included: Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Grambling State, Jackson State, Prairie View A&M , Southern, and Texas Southern.

On Friday, the Lady Bulldogs started their play off strongly with two straight wins over Prairie View A&M and Southern University. The win over the Panthers was the first for A&M since last year's championship match. As the tournament progressed the Bulldog bowlers' efforts slowly declined resulting in three losses, falling to Texas Southern, Jackson State and Alabama State.

The Maroon and White placed 4th within the Western half of the SWAC as well as 3rd in team average and total pinfall rankings.

Sophomore Rebecca Goodwin led the team in points scoring over 200 in three of the five games played. She ranked 2nd in individual total pinfalls (2806) as well as posted an individual high average of (200.4)

The Bulldog Bowlers will hit the lanes again February 21st—23rd in Jackson, MS for the SWAC East Round-up.
