ARLINGTON, Texas | Rose Ugbinada sits in second place overall by averaging a 200.0 pinfall through two games as the Alabama A&M University women's bowling team went 1-1 during the opening day of the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Bowling Tournament on Friday at the International Bowling Training and Research Center (ITRC) located in Arlington, Texas.
Alabama A&M, the fifth seed, began the day against Southern (No. 4 seed) as the Bulldogs rolled past the Jaguars, 4-2, to advance to the quarterfinals. In the mega match format, Southern won the first match, 839-795, but AAMU outlast SU in the next match, 956-830, and advanced with a 4-2 decision in the baker format and moved on to face top seed Jackson State in the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, Jackson State won the mega match formats, 919-867 and 924-801, to move on to Saturday's semifinals.
Ugbinada rolled a 207 against Southern and has a 400 total pinfall.
Alexis Orchard and
Michele Westmoreland are seventh and eighth, respectively, after the first day. Orchard tossed a 200 and posted a 345 total pinfall (172.5 average), while Westmoreland had a 300 pinfall (150.0 average).
Tournament action continues on Saturday and will be available for free live on
Bowl TV. The championship match will be stream live on
SWAC TV. Fans and spectators will be permitted to attend the event and admission will be free to the general public.
