Normal- The Lady Bulldog softball team improved to 6-3 on the season, after a great weekend in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Nakeya Hall led squad took the Hornet Invitational by storm winning three of four contests over two days of action.

Saturday the Lady Bulldogs were victorious versus North Carolina A&T and Gardner-Webb at the ASU hosted event.

To open tournament play, the Maroon & White took on the Aggies of North Carolina A&T. A five-run first inning by A&M was too much for the Aggies to overcome. AAMU went on to take a 6-4 victory led by the bats Anisa Britt and Meaghan Gray. Brit and Gray each had two RBI's via a triple and single respectively.

The Lady Bulldogs plated six runs on seven hits versus a pair of A&T pitchers.

In the second game, the Lady Bulldogs pulled off a come from behind victory, defeating Gardner-Webb 7-6.  A&M again got off to a quick start, taking a lead in the first inning at 3-1. Over the next three innings, the Maroon & White would see their lead diminish. The Runnin' Bulldogs of GW tied the game at five in the bottom of the fifth inning to get back on level ground. They then scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth, after keeping the A&M Bulldogs off the score sheet.

In the last inning, in their last oppourtunity to regain the lead and take a victory, the Maroon & White plated two runs changing the scoreboard in their favor at 7-6. Starting pitcher Cassandra Brown recorded a three up, three down inning to secure the A&M victory.

With the two wins, A&M improved to 5-2 on the season.

On the closing day of action, the Maroon & White went 1-1 defeating NCA&T for a second time, before falling to Murray State University.

In their second meeting in two days, things again went A&M's way. The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Aggies 8-3 to improve to 6-2 on the year.

The Maroon & White fell behind early after giving up two runs to A&T in the first inning. They then held the North Carolina team scoreless over the next four innings, while recording back-to-back four run innings in the third and fourth. The quick and explosive offensive output gave A&M a cushion that could not be topped by the Aggies who could only add a run in the sixth.

The 8-3 victory gave Meaghan Gray her first win of the season as A&M added another W to the win column.

In their last contest of the tournament, the Lady Bulldogs succumbed to an 8-0 defeat by way of the Murray State Racers.

In the loss, the Maroon & White recorded three hits on 17 at bats. Anisa Britt suffered her first loss of the season in the pitchers circle, as A&M fell to 6-3.

The Maroon & White will return to the field February 18, as they host the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in their home opener at the Lady Bulldog softball field.  First pitch in the doubleheader is set for 1:00 p.m.
