Blues City Classic awaits A&M Softball

Normal- After facing the JSU Gamecocks earlier this week, the 6-5 Lady Bulldog softball team will head to Mississippi via the University of Memphis to participate in the 2014 Blues City Classic.
 
The seventh addition of the BCC will take place over three days, beginning on February 21 and ending on February 23. Although hosted by the University of Memphis located in Memphis, Tenn. action will take place across the border at Greenbrook Park in Southaven, Miss.
 
Along with the host Tigers, the Lady Bulldogs will participate alongside nine other teams: Appalachian State, Ball State, Evansville, Loyola University - Chicago, Lipscomb, Missouri State, Morehead State, Murray State, and Southeast Missouri.
 
The Maroon and White will take the field four times over a two-day period. Friday A&M will face Loyal University - Chicago (3-6) and Missouri State (6-2). On Saturday, they will take on Evansville (2-2), and Appalachian State (1-6).
 
Newcomer Taiya McInnes leads the team with a .484 batting average.  In 11 games she has posted 15 hits and nine RBI's.  McInnes was named the College Sports madness.com Player of the Week after the first seven days of the season.
 
Senior pitcher Meaghan Gray recently chosen for the same accolade. The Hartselle, Ala. native assisted with the Lady Bulldogs win over North Carolina A&T. The 8-3 victory gave Gray her first win of the season. She earned seven hits, three runs, three strikeouts in seven innings. For the season, she has an on base percentage of .526 and eight walks and an ERA of 8.19.
