Hancock earns medal in 2014 SWAC Indoor

BIRMINGHAM – Sophomore Robyn Hancock earned her first medal at the 2014 Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor Championship this weekend at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Hancock finished third in the long jump with a mark of 5.53 meters after posting distances of 5.33, 5.14, and 5.29.

The is the Beaumont, Texas native first accolade in track and field during her Maroon and White career.

On the women's' side Keyonna McIntyre placed sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.41.

As a team men's squad saw Maurice Jones finished 10th in the high jump with a mark of 6'02.75. Afton McClaamy finished sixth in the pole vault with a height of 10'4 inches.  He was followed by Demetrius Peacock with a height of 10'0 and Marion Malone with a similar height of 10'0.  Alernon Watkins ended the 60 meter dash in fourth place with a time of 6.90.

Rounding out the Bulldog track and field team was the 4x400 meter relay team of Marion Malone, Dwight Tigner, Demetrius Peacock and Devonte Nesby. They finished the event in fifth place with a 3:22.94 time.

The Maroon & White runners finished the 2014 season with improved times and distances and now turn their attention to the outdoor portion of the schedule.
