Women’s tennis wraps up SWAC Roundup play in Jackson, Miss.

JACKSON -- The Lady Bulldogs tennis team wrapped up the first of two SWAC Roundups this weekend in Jackson, Mississippi.

In their first match, versus Alcorn State, Jessica Taylor gave her number two singles opponent Sumeera Kamil a run for her money. Taylor was unable to maintain her lead falling in her first match of the day.

Up next was the conference champion Southern University. A&M's number one singles player, Orianna Rodriquez, held a 4-3 lead before the Jaguars Laura Syori went on a 5-1 run to take the match.

On day two the Maroon & White faced the Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M.

The duo of Taylor and Rodriguez has been playing great doubles this season. The dynamic duo always give teams they play a scare as they continue to stay competitive no matter the outcome.

As the season continues the Lady Bulldogs will look to Thursday's competition versus the University of North Alabama. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
