Women’s Tennis earns their first victory of the year

NORMAL – The women's tennis team at Alabama A&M celebrated their first victory of the year with a 7-0 thrashing of Albany State University.
 
"It was a good win for the team," said head coach Willis Mbandi.  They have been playing hard but results have not been going their way until today."
 
First singles player, Orianna Rodriguez, posted her second win of the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win over ASU's Nicolette Williams. In the second position Jessica Taylor secured her second win of the year with a 6-1,6-0 win. Rounding out the team, T'Asia Robertson posted her first win of the year 6-0, 6-0 and Khyana Price collected a 6-2, 6-2 win in the final singles match. Leslie Epke won by default due to limited players on the Rams squad.
 
The doubles team of Rodriquez and Taylor posted an 8-0 win in their first doubles position while Price and Robertson outscored Albany's second doubles team 8-3 to give A&M their first win of 2014.
 
The Ladies and well as the men's team will look to expand the win column when they host Western Kentucky on Saturday, March 8, at 1 p.m. at the Bulldogs tennis courts.
