Gameday: Homecoming, Louis Crews Classic and Arkansas-Pine Bluff

NORMAL -- It's Homecoming. It's the Louis Crews Classic. It's the home opener.

Today is a big day for the Maroon & White as the Bulldogs host Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Louis Crews Stadium.

Kickoff is 1 p.m.

Overview
This is Homecoming for Alabama A&M and the sixth annual Louis Crews Classic. Mrs. Martha Crews, widow of legendary A&M Head Coach Louis Crews will be recognized in a pregame ceremony. Miss Alabama A&M Joi Miller and her court will be introduced at halftime.
It's the second Southwestern Athletic Conference game for both teams. The Bulldogs are coming off a 53-49 loss at Prairie View A&M last weekend and the Golden Lions lost to Texas Southern 24-20.

Last meeting
The Bulldogs fell at Pine Bluff 20-19 in the final game of the season. A&M had a chance to go ahead with 1:58 left in the game but Cesar Ramon-Diaz's 33-yard field goal attempt sailed left. UAPB then took over on its own 20-yard-line and ran out the remaining time.

Familiar face
Former Bulldogs head coach Anthony Jones is the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He was 83-57 in 12 seasons at Alabama A&M. His son Drew is with the Bulldogs football program.

Top newcomer
Bulldogs quarterback De'Angelo "Tootie" Ballard was named the SWAC Newcomer of the Week for his performance against Prairie View A&M. The junior college transfer passed for 352 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for another 96 yards and scored two TDs.

Welcome back
Harvey Harris, last year's leading rusher, made an impressive debut this season against Prairie View. The talented sophomore had 11 carries for 55 yards including a touchdown dive over the pile from two yards out to give the Bulldogs a 43-40 lead.

Simon says
Devonte Simon led the Bulldogs with 10 tackles (9 solo, 1 assist) including a one-yard tackle for loss from his cornerback position.
