HUNTSVILLE -- The Alabama A&M bowling team continued to improve by notching its eighth victory this year over Bethune Cookman University in the Alabama State Hornet Invitational Classic.

The Lady Bulldogs finished the first half of the 2017-18 bowling season with a record of 8-30 overall – an eight-win improvement over last season.
Under first-year Head Coach James Moore, the lady Bulldogs have improved in every tournament from the Allstate Invitational to the Hornet Classic.

In the Allstate Bowling Classic in Kenner, La., the Lady Bulldogs won their first two matches in nearly two years over Southern University in Baker format.

Then, two weeks later, they notched three more match wins at the Jackson State Sonic Boom Invitational, finishing seventh in the tournament ahead of Grambling in the eight-team event.

In the final day of competition in the season-ending Hornet Invitational, the Lady Bulldogs exploded against Grambling again. They not only won the best-of-seven match in six games, but they rolled seven straight strikes to finish with a season high 232 game.

The Lady Bulldogs carried the momentum continued into the final match against Bethune Cookman as they averaged 160 per game and won 4 games to 2 to secure ninth place.

A&M will return to action next month for the Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark. Some of the top women's bowling teams in the country are expected to be at the tournament which runs Jan. 12.

From there, it's on to the SWAC Roundup in Dallas from Jan. 19-21. The FAMU Rattler Invitational in Pensacola, Fla., from Jan. 26-28 rounds out the month to open the second half of the year.
