Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BATON ROUGE, La.—Alabama A&M softball team went 1-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play this weekend in Baton Rouge, La. against Southern University. The two teams were originally scheduled to complete a three-game series, but game three was cancelled due to weather.

The series started with the Lady Bulldogs falling 1-2 to the Lady Jaguars after each team were held scoreless after the first inning, but AAMU rebounded in game two of the weekend as they forced a series tie with a 10-3 win over Southern.

On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs opened the game dominating in the first inning to take an early 7-0 lead over the Lady Jaguars.
 
The inning started with Viridiana Ramos reaching on a fielding error to advance Ariel Smith and Tiana Sanders while scoring Kia Lang. With bases loaded, Tamia Lee-Barbadillo singled to the pitcher to score Sanders. After Madi Pozzi was walked, Ramos scored on a wild pitch followed by Danielle Hansell reaching on a fielding error to score Barbadillo.  
 
Up 5-0, Lang singled before advancing to second on the throw. The remaining Lady Bulldogs followed suit which allowed Hansell and Pozzi to score, which gave them a 7-0 lead at the end of the first inning.  
 
The Lady Bulldogs held Southern scoreless in the bottom of the first and in return, the Lady Bulldogs were putout quick in the top of the second. In an effort to make a comeback, the Lady Jaguars added there only three runs of the game in the bottom of the second off a two-run fielder's choice and single to left field.
 
In the third inning, Sanders reached on a fielding error by second base which advanced Imani Largin to third and Hansell home to extend their lead to eight.
 
The Lady Bulldogs opened the fifth inning with Sanders doubling to right field to score Lang. Leading 9-0, a Lady Jaguars error gave the AAMU just the lead they needed to finish with a win, as Smith advanced to second and Sanders scored home to end the game with a 10-3 win.
 
Caitlyn Hayden earned her seventh win of the season.

The Lady Bulldogs were originally scheduled to face Oakwood University Monday but the doubleheader was cancelled. They will prepare to continue SWAC play as they travel to Alabama State on Mar. 31 for a three-game weekend series.  AAMU is now 9-20 overall, and 2-3 in the SWAC.
