Women's Tennis Falls to Tennessee State

HUNTSVILLE – The Alabama A&M University women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Tennessee State University Friday afternoon at the Bulldog Tennis Court.

TSU's Phoenix Gandy and Taylor Patterson defeated Virag Hollos and Rida Khalid 6-2 to give the Lady Tigers a quick lead in doubles play. Pragati Natraj and Ani Popiashvili clinched the point with a 6-1 win over Jazmine Lawson and Alyssa Williams.

Virag Hollos fell to Ani Popiashvili 6-1, 6-0 on court 1 to give TSU a 2-0 lead. Beatriz G Cerezo defeated Taylor Patterson 7-5, 6-1 on court 2. Ashia Jones clinched the match for the vistors, winning 6-3, 6-2 over Rida Khalid. Abhilasha Vishwanath took the fourth point for the Lady Tigers with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Shrarre Smith. Pragati Natraj defeated Alyssa Williams 6-1, 6-2. Jazmine Lawson lost to Phyllicia Hemphill 6-2, 6-1 to wrap up the match and give the Lady Tigers a 5-2 victory.
