Softball hosts Austin Peay in doubleheader Tuesday afternoon

HUNTSVILLE, Ala---The Alabama A&M University softball team returns to action Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action against Austin Peay State University. The game was originally scheduled to be played on Wednesday, but was shifted ahead one day due to the threat of rain Wednesday.

First pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. on the campus of Alabama A&M University.

Alabama A&M comes into the game 0-2 overall after falling to Drury University, 1-4, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 0-1, on Feb. 9 in the Pine Bluff Classic in Pine Bluff, Ark.

The Lady Bulldogs are led by sophomore Madi Pozzi at the plate, hitting .400 with two hits and a double. Senior Jessica Alferos is hitting .333 which includes a double and she leads the team with a .667 slugging percentage.

On the mound, senior Lauren Hayden leads the team with a 2.25 earned run average with five strikeouts in four innings pitched.

Meanwhile, Austin Peay (0-3) is led by Natalie Schilling who has a .500 batting average. Kacy Acree is second on the team in hitting at .444 with four base hits, two runs batted in and two doubles. On the mound, Rachel Morgan (0-1) leads the team with two appearances and innings pitched (9.0) with 12 strikeouts.

Tuesday's doubleheader will be the 21^st and 22^nd games in the all-time series between the Lady Bulldogs and the Governors, dating back to the 2001 season, with APSU holding a 19-1 advantage in the series, including winning the last 13 meeting between the two programs.
