BIRMINGHAM -- Alabama State pitcher Justine Jean and Alabama A&M shortstop Tamia Lee-Barbadillo have been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Softball Players of the Week after impressive efforts this past weekend. The league made the announcement Monday afternoon.

Pitcher of the Week – Jean was relied on heavily last week, tossing 21.0 innings in four games with three starts and one relief appearance. She picked up a pair of wins and amassed 17 strikeouts. She tossed two complete games and was solid against Mississippi State, allowing just six hits and three runs during a six-inning start versus the Bulldogs.

Hitter of the Week – Lee-Barbadillo hit .363 (4-of-11) during a weekend series at Savannah State, driving in seven runs. She also scored three runs. The junior from Antioch, Calif. had at least one hit and one RBI in each of the three contests. Lee-Barbadillo accounted for the game-winning RBI during the Lady Bulldogs' 1-0 win in game two and led the charge with two home runs and four RBI in Alabama A&M's 10-6 win to conclude the weekend.
