Loney Notches First Place as Alabama A&M Women’s Indoor Track & Field Opens 2020-21 at KMS Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Danice Loney (Melbourne, Fla.) paced a pair of Top-10 finishes as Alabama A&M women's indoor track & field cracked the lid on the 2020-21 season at the KMS Invitational on Sunday, January 24.

Competing at the Birmingham CrossPlex, Loney continued her stellar career as she outpaced the competition in the pole vault, winning the event ahead of 11 other competitors. Her height of 3.50-meters easily surpassed that of the second place finisher who only cleared 3.35-meters.

Joining her was junior Jayla Neal (Atlanta, Ga.) with a 9-of-34 outing in the long jump (5.00m) while senior Sophia Madison (Pensacola, Fla.) came in 13-of-24 in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.43 and 17-of-29 in the shot put (9.14m). Sophomore Aneisha Ingram (Frankfield, Jamaica) placed 16-of-31 in the mile (5:59.06) and was 23-of-33 in the 3,000-meters at 12:33.05.

The 200-meters would see a pair of freshman from Pike Road, Alabama deliver in their collegiate debut like they did as teammates at Pike Road High School. Nia White posted a time of 27.38 to finish 19-of-51 while Kaan Oliver was 24th at 27.71.

Freshman Aajiah Jackson (Madison, Ala.) added a 19-of-34 performance in the long jump (4.55m) and was 28-of-55 in the 60-meters (8.24). Fellow freshman Trinidee Hampton (West Memphis, Ark.) came away with a 12-of-19 outing in the triple jump at 10.25-meters and was right behind Jackson in 29th in the 60-meters at 8.29.

The Bulldogs will be right back in action next Sunday, January 31 when they return to the CrossPlex for the KMS Open.
