Alabama A&M's Loney and Oliver Sweep SWAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama A&M women's indoor track & field delivered impressive performances in their season opening meet and as a result senior Danice Loney (Melbourne, Fla.) and freshman Kaan Oliver (Pike Road, Ala.) have combined to sweep the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the league on Thursday, January 28.
 
SWAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week: Danice Loney
Loney paced a pair of Top-10 finishes as A&M cracked the lid on the 2020-21 season at the KMS Invitational on Sunday, January 24.
 
Competing at the Birmingham CrossPlex, she continued her stellar career as she outpaced the competition in the pole vault, winning the event ahead of 11 other competitors. Her height of 3.50-meters easily surpassed that of the second place finisher who only cleared 3.35-meters.
 
SWAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week: Kaan Oliver
Competing in her first collegiate events, Oliver delivered a solid debut in a pair of outings.
 
She would place 24-of-51 in the 200-meters with a time of 27.71 before finishing 17-of-24 in the 60-meter hurdles (11.29).
 
The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday, January 31 when they travel back to the CrossPlex for the KMS Open.
