BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second straight week, Alabama A&M women's indoor track & field notched strong individual finishes, including another top honor, as they competed at the KMS Open held at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Sunday, January 31.
Senior
Danice Loney (Melbourne, Fla.) repeated her first place performance in the pole vault from a week ago at that very same facility, this time besting a field of 16 other competitors as she cleared the exact same height of 3.50-meters.
Sophomore
Fabiona Jackson-Jenkins (Montgomery, Ala.) would join her with a Top-10 outing as she placed 8-of-24 in the 600-meters with a time of 1:42.96 and was also part of the 4x400 relay that finished 10-of-18 (4:14.66). The latter included senior
Terion Davis (Lakeland, Fla.), junior
Diamond Griffin (Miami, Fla.) and freshman
Kaan Oliver (Pike Road, Ala.), each of whom also delivered in individual events.
Griffin led that group with a 12-of-24 finish in the 600-meters (1:48.02) while Davis was 24-of-60 in the 200-meters (26.51) and Oliver 21-of-39 in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing with a mark of 9.57.
Freshman
Trinidee Hampton (West Memphis, Ark.) led the field competitors with a 14-of-46 outing in the long jump with a distance of 5.13-meters and placed 15-of-30 in the triple jump at 10.55-meters. She was joined by senior
Sophia Madison (Pensacola, Fla.) and freshman
Briana Cox (Miami, Fla.) in 18
th and 19
th place, respectively, in the shotput with both hitting at 10.10-meters.
Senior
Sabria Wooten (Dallas, Ga.) placed 16-of-36 in the 5,000-meters (19:39.46) and 20-of-48 in the mile (5:37.89) and freshman
Nia White (Pike Road, Ala.) was 37-of-77 in the 60-meters with a time of 8.11 to close out the Bulldogs top performers.
A&M returns to the CrossPlex for a third straight week when they take part in the Jaguar Invitational on Sunday, February 7.
