BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following an abbreviated 2020 campaign, Alabama A&M junior pitcher Lisabelle Hansell (Hayward, Calif.) has been named to the Preseason All-SWAC Softball Second-Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday, February 10.
 
Hansell, who also plays third base when not in the circle, earned her spot as a pitcher despite coming off an uncharacteristic campaign that saw her finish with a 7.56 ERA and 0-3 record in five games and starts. She also hit a team-high .357 with a pair of doubles in 11 games.
 
In her most recent full season, 2019, she pitched to a 4.52 ERA and 9-4 record with 44 strikeouts in 93.2 innings. As a hitter she finished with a .349 average, 16 RBIs, eight doubles and a homerun in 38 games and starts.
 
The recognition places her among the 24 best returning players in the SWAC entering the season.
 
The Bulldogs will kick off the 2021 season with four games at the Alabama State Tournament from February 19-20, taking on UT-Martin, host ASU, Evansville and Middle Tennessee. They will follow that with four games at Mercer's Black & Orange Challenge, facing the Bears and Toledo twice each from February 26-27 before seeing their home field for the first time against Southern on March 19 and 20.
