BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With an eye towards the postseason, Alabama A&M women's indoor track & field hit their stride as they closed out the regular season with four Top-10 finishes at the Samford Open on Saturday, February 13 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Leading the way was senior
Danice Loney (Melbourne, Fla.) as she tied for third out of 16 competitors in the pole vault, clearing 3.50-meters for the fourth straight meet. Senior
Sabria Wooten (Dallas, Ga.) wasn't far behind, finishing 7-of-18 in the mile with a time of 5:35.76.
Freshman Brianna Cox (Miami, Fla.) delivered a 9-of-15 outing in the weight throw (10.81m) and added an 18-of-27 performance in the shot put (10.61m) while junior
Jayla Neal (Atlanta, Ga.) was 10-of-29 with a mark of 5.07-meters in the long jump.
Sophomore
Fabiona Jackson-Jenkins (Montgomery, Ala.) produced a 12-of-58 finish in the 200-meters with a time of 25.47 and was 17-of-35 in the 60-meters (8.05).
Aajiah Jackson (Madison, Ala.) rounded out the top performers, coming in 15-of-29 in the long jump, clearing 4.96-meters.
Having closed the regular season, Alabama A&M turns their attention to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships. Those will be held right back at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Thursday, February 18 and Friday, February 19.
