BATON ROUGE, La. – Playing in just their second match of the season, Alabama A&M (0-2, 0-1 SWAC) fell 4-0 to rival Alabama State (1-4, 1-0 SWAC) in an NCAA Division I women's tennis match on Friday, February 26.

The Bulldogs dropped the first doubles match of the day at No. 2 as junior
Ximena Duarte Ramirez (Asuncion, Paraguay) and senior
Nthabiseng Mashego (Alabaster, Ala.) fell 6-2 to Ana Tarbujaru and Madalena Andrade.

The teams would split the remaining two sets, as juniors
Jasmine Boyd (Marion, Ind.) and
Anita Bozhko (Minks, Belarus) came away with a 6-3 win over Anja Hribljan and Lizaveta Demchenko, while sophomore
Camila Ruiz Diaz (Asuncion, Paraguay) and junior
India Woods (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) fell 6-4 to Bea Acena and Urska Velec.

In singles action, the Bulldogs dropped all three matches as Bozhko lost at No. 1 to Andrade 6-1 and 6-4, Duarte Ramirez fell at No. 3 6-1 and 6-3, and Ruiz Diaz was defeated 6-2, 6-0 to round out play.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, February 27 as they continue play in Baton Rouge and take on Mississippi Valley State to continue SWAC Pod play. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the Southern University Tennis Courts.
