HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M Athletics continues to excel in the classroom as the Department has announced that a total of 249 student-athletes have been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll following an impressive Fall 2020 semester.
In order to earn a spot on that prestigious team, each individual had to achieve a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better and this past fall 49 individuals delivered a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Those 249 student-athletes account for an incredible 71-percent of Bulldog Nation while 14-percent of A&M's 350 student-athletes posted perfect marks. As a whole, the Department posted an impressive 3.32 GPA for the fall semester.
Leading that group was women's soccer with 12 such individuals while football had the most student-athletes with at least a 3.0 of any program, registering 61.
In addition to football, four programs produced at least 20 such honorees, including women's soccer (27), baseball (21), softball (20) and women's track & field (20).
They were followed by cheerleading (19), women's volleyball (15), men's track & field (13), men's basketball (11), women's basketball (11), men's tennis (10), women's tennis (9), women's bowling (6) and men's golf (6).
"We are extremely proud of our student-athletes for their effort, dedication and commitment to excelling in the classroom," said Director of Athletics
Bryan Hicks. "This achievement further exemplifies the quality of student-athletes we have here at Alabama A&M and the dedicated staff that assist them in their academic endeavors. Moreover, it is truly an outstanding accomplishment to earn this distinction now with the additional challenges brought about by a global pandemic and the everyday adjustments these individuals have had to make."
