BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following a strong regular season, Alabama A&M women's tennis has landed a pair of selections on the 2021 All-Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Team as announced by the league on Friday, April 16.
The tandem of juniors
Anita Bozhko (Minsk, Belarus) and
Jasmine Boyd (Marion, Ind.) each earned All-Conference honors after playing together all season at No. 1 doubles and alternating between the top two spots in singles play.
Bozhko has delivered an impressive season, going 5-4 at No. 1 doubles and 4-4 overall in singles. The latter has seen her be dominant at No. 1 singles, going 4-1 with her other matches coming at the two spot.
Capable of getting on a roll, despite an inconsistent schedule, Bozhko won five straight doubles matches with Boyd from February 26 through March 12 and four consecutive singles outings - all at No. 1 - from February 27 through March 12.
As for Boyd, she shared that 5-4 mark at the top doubles spot as well as the five match win streak while being a staple at the top of the order all season long.
A consistent high performer, she went 5-2 in singles play, winning five consecutive singles outings from February 28 through April 2. Highlighting her success in singles action was a perfect 4-0 mark at the No. 2 spot.
Bozhko, Boyd and the Bulldogs are back in action today in quarterfinal action against No. 6 seed Alcorn State.
